Building a pre-season buzz

We’ve been working with one of the founding clubs of the Football League to showcase this season’s upcoming fixtures to millions of fans worldwide.
‘Fixture Day’, as it’s commonly known, has become a staple of the Premier League pre-season schedule in recent years, where at 9am supporters and the media discover when and where their team will be playing over the next ten months.
The fan engagement team at Everton asked us to help spread the word by creating a branded, responsive microsite that would contain all matches for the 2018/19 season, including integrated fixture information from the Premier League’s official data provider, Opta.
For understandable reasons all content is heavily embargoed beforehand, so we were sworn to secrecy as we got to work on polishing the interface and consuming the right data.
To cope with the anticipated large volumes of concurrent traffic, we also created a robust cloud hosting architecture that could be readily scaled up and down in line with demand.
The microsite has been heavily promoted by the club across its official website and social media channels to its growing global fan base, and we are now working with its team on a number of exciting new initiatives.
